Synopsis

Meet Guts, the Black Swordsman, a feared warrior known mostly in hushed tones. He carries a massive sword, has an iron hand, and has scars from many fights and tortures. A symbol (The Brand) of evil on his body attracts bad forces to him, making him a potential sacrifice.

But Guts won’t quietly accept his fate. He slices through legions of evil with his blood-soaked path, and anyone who dares cross him. His ‘companion’, Puck the Elf, is more of a nuisance than a friend.

Accompanied by Puck, Guts walks a dangerous, bloody path that leads either to death or revenge.

The first 16 chapters (0A – 0P) are prequels, found in volumes 1-5. Chapter 83 was missing from volume 13 due to the author’s wish. Volume 14 has “Berserk: The Prototype”.

Due to the author’s death, starting from Chapter 365, the manga is illustrated by Miura’s assistants, Studio Gaga, and supervised by Kouji Mori, a close friend of Miura’s.
