Synopsis
Small, foggy town named Kurozu-cho, located along Japan’s coast, is under a strange curse. Teenager Kirie Goshima’s quiet boyfriend, Shuichi Saito, believes their town is haunted, not by a ghost or spirit, but by a repeating pattern: uzumaki, the spiral. This spiral shows up in everyday things: seashells, ferns, water vortexes, air vortexes. It also appears in bigger ways: spiral marks on people’s bodies, crazy obsessions of adults, strange noises in the inner ear. As the strange happenings increase, the town’s people become more and more wrapped up, like being sucked into a vortex with no escape…
